We've been getting a lot of curiosity flow about the Sama Eden initiative known as the Swap Shop. What are they? Who are they? and, Why?
Now, you're probably going to get a lot more information in the poster at the bottom of this post but these here are answers to frequently asked questions. Remember to keep yourself glued to this section of the blog because we're going to be constantly updating you on the joys (and savings) of that swapping life (probably mostly always in GIF Format lol).
Without further adieu, let me try to address your queries as best as a valedictorian (which i surprisingly was) can.
1. WHAT'S "SWITCH-A-ROO" ALL ABOUT?
Switch-a-Roo is a fun switching game that encourages the practice of Bata Trade. There is so much value surrounding us, always, but it sometimes gets hard to believe that when the landlord seems to have your number on speed dial and switch-a-roo is an attempt to remind you of that value. The big idea is to encourage you to trade something you have but don't need for something you actually would make some good use of. Don't wait for money to serve the needs in your life. You have so much to give, so much to offer- don't be fooled into thinking that the money jackpot is the only way to get you there because funny enough, we're all in the same boat and looking for a lifeline. How about we start sharing what we have to grow what we desire.
2. WHERE'S IT AT?
This monthly trading party can be found burning up anywhere the Sama Eden Smoke can be seen. As they say; "Where there's a Sama Eden event there's a Switch-a-Roo.
We are working hard on making this mobile initiative so that more of you can enjoy its goodness. Post up right here for for insight on when the a pop Up Swap Shop near you will be held.
3. WHAT CAN I TRADE?
The Switch-a-Roo started off in February 2016 as a swap shop where anybody can trade books and learning aids, furniture/kitchen appliances, clothes and accessories, toys (the list is endless and pretty much anything that comes to mind that you don't need) etc. but has now introduced a fun new angle- the Talent Swap; where people can trade their skills and occupational talents.
-In the Swap shop section, you can trade goods; pretty much. Tangible stuff.
-In the talent swap section, you can trade a service like music production(if a producer you are) for photo shoot styling from say, a stylist (cheeky recommendation HERE)
Once paid, you can trade in both categories
4. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?(Damage Control)
To make the Switch-a-Roo Swap, all you need is an entry fee of KES 300/- and at least TWO items to swap (if you know you'll be side eyeing something in the swap shop). Once that's done you'll get a band to officiate your knighthood into the swapping party. The two items to swap isn't necessary if all your looking for is a service trade though.
5. HOW MANY THINGS CAN I PICK IN RETURN?
Give and you shall receive is the main Switch-a-Roo Motto therefore you get as much as you give in to the swap shop. If you bring 5 items you can pick 5. If you bring 30, well, you know the song...
This rule only applies to the Swap Shop though- Talent swappers can really go into town with it; swap your skills/talents and services away!!
6. WHAT'S THE BONUS?
The Talent swap community is ready to welcome you. We have a Facebook group that has many other people looking to trade their professional services with you. KES 300/- entry to the Switch-a-Roo party grants you exclusive access to this group filled with beautiful, ambitious and talented individuals.
