So you’re having trouble selling at the market and you simply don’t know what you’re doing wrong; well here’s a list of what TO DO in order to boost your sales at the next Sama Eden event:

1. INVITE, INVITE, INVITE

Most vendors rely on the market to publicize their products. The Eden Yard team does it’s best to let people know about you but we don’t have the same access to your client base that you do. Do your part in letting your family, friends, colleagues and clients know where to find you. This is a proven method of boosting sales

2. Package yourself to sell

Utilize your space well- this doesn’t automatically give you a pass to hoard your space- put as many things as can pleasantly fit on display and keep the rest away. If you have a few products think of bringing items of decor to enhance your shopper’s experience (Sometimes less is more).

3.Pricing is everything

The two major things to consider are:

  • That the price is right for your demographic of shoppers. To give you an idea, The Sama Eden vendors who price their products within the range of KES 100 – 2,000/- do better than those that cost more.

  • Make sure your prices can be well seen by potential shoppers. A lot of people don’t want the hassle of asking for the price yet the price of your product can be what draws them to your booth.

4.What a good description can do

Treat your shopper like your best student by learning the art of using colorful and descriptive words to fully explain the function of your product. If possible have some samples too!!

5. Sharing is caring

Get to know the other vendors and what they have to offer so that you can direct your customers to them. Doing this encourages the other vendors to do the same all while you build lasting connections with them.

6. Build a connection

A great way of selling your products is by encouraging your customers to feel, touch, wear and try your products as this builds a connection between your products and them. If your products are not reusable, like lipstick, make sure you have some samples that they can try.

7. A Busy bee…

Carry something to do to occupy your day because customers come and go. A great way to be engaging is to make what you sell as your shoppers watch. It’s a great conversation starter about your products and allows the shopper a deeper connection with them.

8. Feedback Please

A happy customer is a return customer- always ask your customers for feedback; it makes them feel important and like their opinions matter. It also helps you improve on your product and sales experience. Word travels fast and an impressive post shopping experience goes a long way too.

9. Join in on the swapping

Swapping product with other vendors is a great way to expand market reach. As Rachel Potucek puts it; “Your fellow vendors aren’t your competition. They’re your allies. Not only is it rewarding to befriend a fellow maker, sometimes vendors display each other’s products at festivals and craft shows. Offer to swap a few products to display at another vendor’s booth. You will expand your presence at the show, you might get a few referral sales, and who knows — your fellow vendor might end up being a friend and collaborator.

10. Smile more

your best sale yet is right around the corner
